Major and Minor Actions Cheat Sheet

Today is my wife and my anniversary. Happy anniversary sweetie! So I scheduled this post ahead of time. Also, don't be surprised if I don't reply to any comments right away.

One of the aspects about Honor+Intrigue was the way the rules handled dueling. I've talked about that elsewhere. One consequence of way the system handles maneuvers in combat is that there can appear to be a lot of fiddly numbers, especially if you aren't good at memorizing game stuff.

My players range in their interest and ability in memorizing game stuff. And as I get older, frankly so do I. So early in the campaign I created a cheat sheet to avoid having to continually page through the descriptions of the maneuvers. One of my goals for the cheat sheet was to fit all necessary information for all the combat maneuvers on one 8.5x11.0 sheet of paper. Here's what it looks like.

I decided to more or less follow the arrangement of the maneuvers in the H+I rule book. I put Repartee and Regain Composure at the top to help remember them in combat. Then I listed (in alphabetical order by type) the Major Actions, the Minor Actions, and the Reactions.

I found this to be really helpful as a quick reference. It contains all the maneuvers for combat, which helps people remember what they can try to do. (In H+I anyone can try any maneuver.) And the sheet can be customized to include the completed calculations for a specific character. Any quick reference sheet works for me as I'm pretty facile at simple arithmetic and as the GM I get a lot of practice with the maneuvers, but for the players having those calculations pre-figured is a time saver.

You'll notice some of the maneuvers are highlighted in light brown. I use that to show maneuvers that have been mastered. I also add in a short write-up of the benefits for mastery.

Here's a version in MS-Word that you can use at home. The file is large as I included the fonts so your version will look like mine.

Enjoy!
