"Powerpoint resources for old-school-style adventure mapping" is a handy tool for mapping. It uses Microsoft PowerPoint, requires no additional apps, does a good job creating printable electronic maps, and it's free. Thanks to Roger S.G. Sorolla who created and made available (via creative commons license) the method and designs. He published the tool on his blog. The 27 March 2011 post introduced the tool and the 10 April post included a download PowerPoint file with instructions available via a Creative Commons license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/).
Check it out.
I used Rogers methods and designs to create a map of the Saint Gervais Cemetery in Paris for an upcoming adventure in my Honor+Intrigue game.
